Haroldo Jacobovicz is the founder of Horizons Telecom, a leading telecom company in Brazil. We had the opportunity to speak with Haroldo Jacobovicz about his career and his favorite companies to work for.
What was the first computer you used? What was your first job?
I have been using computers since I was a child. My dad has a very good computer at home, and I spent hours playing games and printing out my programs. Then, when I was about ten years old, my dad bought me an Apple IIe. I still have it in storage, and it’s still working. It’s a 40-year-old machine that does everything I need it to do today.
When did you first become interested in technology?
I became interested in technology when I saw how powerful it could be and how much fun it could be. After graduating from college, I decided to get a degree in Computer Science because that all sounded so cool to me.
What is the most fun thing about being the CEO of Horizons Telecom?
The most fun thing about being the CEO of Horizons Telecom is that I work with great people daily. I admit, when I don’t like something, I take it out on my people! And that makes me feel bad. It’s not a fun feeling, but it’s a necessary one.
What is your favorite thing about working at Horizons Telecom?
My favorite thing about working at Horizons Telecom is the people. My crew is some of the best people in the world, and they make my job much easier than if we had a bunch of jerks in our office.
What do you like most about your home office?
I love having my home office near an ocean beach because there’s nothing better than having a cup of coffee and looking at the ocean while enjoying a beautiful sunset.
