Haroldo Jacobovicz is a civil engineer and entrepreneur. He is the founder of several institutions in Brazil, including Esquina Social Club and the School of Entrepreneurship. Haroldo also supports street children and has provided a permanent dwelling to four families living on the streets of Rio. Haroldo Jacobovicz founded the School of Entrepreneurship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1967. It was an idea born out of his desire to see his children inspired to become entrepreneurs. He also felt that many youths could benefit from the principles and methods learned at such a school. His goal was to create a school that would be both practical and fun yet would be able to teach youth how to become entrepreneurs and managers.
In addition to being an industrialist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Haroldo Jacobovicz is also very well known as a composer of classical music. He has written over 200 works that major orchestras have recorded worldwide. His compositions have been performed in Japan, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and South America.
Haroldo Jacobovicz is still an active man at 74. Besides working on his various projects, he also serves as President of the Rede das Barcas Foundation, a philanthropic organization with shared goals and projects that help underprivileged populations throughout the country. The simple fact that his foundation owns the only Brazilian line of ocean-going ships makes it unique in the country.
